Mark 9:22-23 - “The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.” “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
Our anchor scripture details the conversation between Jesus and a man who brought his son for healing because he had an evil spirit that had made him mute. The man said to Jesus, “…help us, if you can”. This was a request that was incorrect and without faith because it questioned the ability of Jesus to do it. Jesus replied to this “If you can” statement by telling the man if only he can believe.
God is both willing and able to help you. When you allow the reality of both His willingness and ability to settle in your heart, you will rest in your walk of faith with Him. You only need to believe and “all things are possible to him who believes”. The one who believes sees and experiences possibilities. To him, impossibility becomes nothing.
Believing God is not a leap in the dark; rather, it is a leap on His Word. It is holding onto God’s Word; standing on it until what the Word speaks about happens. The attitude of faith says when God has given His Word, it is done! That’s believing; trusting the willingness and ability of God based on what He said. This was the case with the centurion who wanted his servant healed and simply told Jesus; “But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.” Matthew 8:8. Jesus commended this action by saying this was “great faith” (Matthew 8:10).
It does not matter what the situation is. You only need to believe God’s Word. As you pray, study and meditate on His Word, be open to what the Lord says to you about the situation and hold that as your confession. There is no situation that defies God’s Word from a heart and mouth that believes the Word. Jairus called for Jesus to come heal his daughter. On the way, they came to him and said; “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” Mark 5:35-36. And the daughter was raised back to life. Hallelujah! No need to fear, only believe. God is not only willing to help, He is also able. Believe His Word and you will see possibilities.
Prayer: Dear Father, my trust and confidence is in Your Word. I stand upon what you have said to me, unmovable and unshakeable. I am seeing all that you have said concerning me come to pass in their due seasons in Jesus’ Name.
