Continue In Prayer With His Word

Wednesday September 13, 2023

1 Timothy 1:18 - “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,”

Jesus told the story of the widow and the unjust judge to illustrate the need for persistence in the place of prayer (Study Luke 18:1-8 for the parable). There are certain situations that require your persistence or continuing in prayer. A good example is the salvation of a loved one or when you are trying to “impose” God’s will over a matter. In these situations, you may have to persist until you see the desired result. Don’t just pray once and stop; keep praying and standing on the Word until you see what God has said or get the note of victory in your heart that it is now done.

Many give up in the place of prayer and do not see the fruits of what they desire. Paul told Timothy in our anchor scripture to wage a good warfare with the prophecies. So, “fight” in the place of prayer with the Word God has given you about the situation. If God has laid the possibility of something in your heart or you have seen by the Spirit in the Word that something ought to be a reality and it is not, get praying consistently and persistently about the matter, armed with His Word, until you see the result for which God spoke.

Take a cue from Elijah. After he declared the Word to Ahab that there will be rain after there had been no rain for 3 years and 6 months, he went to pray. 1 Kings 18:41-44 says; “Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.” So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ ”

The book of James 5:17-18 explained the passage above that Elijah prayed again for rain to fall. So, he did not sleep on the Word he gave. He was praying what the Word says that there shall be rain and until the good news of a cloud forming, he did not leave that place of prayer. Don’t stop too soon. Keep standing in prayer with the Word God has given you for that child, that marriage, that ministry, that business, that city, and so on. The Word of God will surely prevail, so keep standing on it. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Dear Father, I receive grace to keep standing with the Word you gave me. I refuse to give up but continue to pray until I see the results You desire for me to see. I rejoice in confidence that Your Word prevails, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
