1 John 1:3 - “that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
What a joy to be a Christian. Being a Christian is no ordinary thing. We have been brought into fellowship with God the Father Himself and with Jesus Christ. This is mind blowing. The word translated “Fellowship” in our anchor scripture is from a root word which also means “partnership”, or “participation”. It connotes a sharing together, as well as intimate dealing between persons.
To understand what you are as a Christian and what Christianity is about, you need to realise that it is all about Fellowship - the Fellowship with God. A Christian is one who has been brought to partake of the Lord. The Apostle Paul captured this beautifully when he said; “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (1 Corinthians 6:17). 2 Peter 1:4 (NLT) also says; “And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature…..”
Praise God - we are sharers of His divine nature because He chose to bring us into Himself. So, stay vitally connected to the Lord in fellowship through prayer and the committed study of, and meditation in His Word. This is how to deepen your fellowship with Him. Paul prayed that “the communion of the Spirit be with you all” (2 Corinthians 13:14). The Holy Spirit is with you to keep you in fellowship with the Father. As you engage in prayer and the study of the Word, the Holy Spirit takes you deeper in your fellowship with the Lord.
Prayer: I thank You dear Father for bringing me into Union with You. I thrive and I keep growing in Your grace more and more even as my fellowship with You deepens, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
