Do You Know Who You Are?

Wednesday July 12, 2023

The first and most important discovery in life is to know your true identity. It is very scary when God said that his own people are destroyed because they lack knowledge (Prov. 29:18). To fail to know who you are is the greatest failure in life. You can become short changed, cheated, bullied, robbed and denied what rightfully belongs to you; simply due to ignorance. Indeed, ignorance is a killer! Actually, the word of God compares someone who is in honour but doesn't know to a beast and mere animal destined to be slaughtered (Psalm 49: 20).

Do you know who you are? Have you discovered your true identity? Or are you seeing yourself through someone else's lens, identity or their perception of you? No one should tell or describe who you are to you. It is integrity and dignity to know who you are and who you are not. Because Daniel knew who he was, he refused to eat of the King's delicacy (Dan.1:8). The same with Joseph who refused bluntly the immoral advances of Mrs Potiphar (Gen.39: 7-9). He was able to stand in faith, courage, diligence, and faithfulness everywhere he found himself because he had a good knowledge of his identity. And God was with him always.

To know who you are should duly inform you of who you are not. Knowing that you're a child of God and a new creation means you don't belong to Satan and have no part in the works of darkness anymore; because God is light and there is no darkness in him at all. As God your Father is, so are you! (1 John 1: 6). You are more than conqueror so you cannot lose any battle; you are the head and not the tail. You will lend to nations and not borrow because you're made rich through His poverty; so you cannot be poor again (Deut. 28:12-13). Stand in the knowledge of who you are in Christ and live out your true identity. Don't settle for less; be whom you were destined to be!

Prayer: Thank you Father for whom you have called and made me to be in Christ Jesus. I refuse to live differently and I receive grace to stand in my identity and bring glory and praise to you.
