Acts 9: 6 - "And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what will you have me to do?"
Every man is sent to the world for a peculiar assignment; to fill a vacuum that no other person can fill. Jesus’ assignment was to save man from sin, and the Bible shows us how He focused on fulfilling this mandate all through His earthly ministry. Have you discovered your God-given assignment? Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it."
In our anchor scripture, Paul was encountered by Jesus on the way to Damascus and immediately he asked the master for his assignment. He wanted to know the direction to face going forward so he could keep track of his progress towards the fulfilment of his destiny and calling. Having had a clear direction for his ministry, he declared he was not running as one beating the air. (Read 1 Corinthians 9:24 to 27). You must have clarity about your calling and life purpose.
Like Apostle Paul, God wants us to ask Him for the assignment He has for us having been saved, and He expects us to focus on the assignment once revealed. Focus is the ability to pay careful and undivided attention to what we are doing in a way that shows determination to succeed. Broken focus and giving excuses leads to failure. Focus guarantee success.
We should not be like Jonah who journeyed towards Tarshish despite receiving a clear direction to go to Nineveh. We must not be ignorant of Satan's devices (1 Cor. 2:12) to tempt and distract the saints of God from fulfilling their mandate. He specialises in positioning his demonic and human agents like Delilah and Portiphar’s wife everywhere to stop you. Be careful and determined like Joseph to not fall for their antics in Jesus' name.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your call upon my life. Put a fresh fire in my spirit so I can be passionate about my assignment and eliminate everything that can distract or hinder me from fulfilling it in Jesus' name. Amen!
