Philippians 2:13 (NLT) - “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”
The Christian life is a glorious one; a life lived in, and by the power of the Holy Spirit. The reference scripture provides a powerful word of assurance that God is at work in you. He works in you to enable you please Him. Don’t ever feel like you're helpless in your Christian walk. The Greater One lives inside of you, by His Spirit. Hallelujah!
Some Christians struggle at times to please God. They don't seem to know what the Lord would have them do in certain situations. This is one reason why a consistent and intimate fellowship with the Lord is crucial. Prov 13:20 says, “He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed." You would always pick up on the character of the company you keep.
Beloved, you can learn someone’s ways and become like them just by associating with them consistently (Read Prov 22:24-25). It is the same with the Spirit of God. Intimate and consistent fellowship or “association” with God is what makes you more like Him. Through consistent fellowship, the appetite and power to please God is released to you and your distaste for ungodly things increases concurrently.
Moreover, you receive grace to say "No" to ungodliness (Titus 2:12). So, spend time daily in prayer and in the study of the Word. The character of God is impressed on our spirits as we fellowship with Him (2 Cor 3:18). We become more and more like Him in character, and as we are changed, our actions become reflective of His own desire.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for Your Spirit in me. I receive grace to fellowship with You consistently. By Your Spirit, I am strengthened to live a life that pleases You in Jesus' name. Amen.
