Revelations 21: 5 - Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
An Estate Agent sold an old warehouse. The doors had been damaged, the windows smashed, and the interior unkempt. The agent told the prospective buyer that he would replace the broken windows, correct any structural damage, and clean out the garbage. "Forget about the repairs," the buyer said. "When I buy this place, I'm going to build something completely new. I don't want the building; I only want the site."
God only wants your heart, your whole life. That's why he paid a great price to purchase and redeem you from the slave market of sin. "for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body" (1 Corin. 6: 20). So, you don't need to try to make yourself new. God only needs you to surrender your heart and whole life into his hands, and he'll make you completely new. No wonder the Scriptures says, "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a (brand) new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (2 Corin. 5:17 NLT). Note that it's a brand new life and new person; not refurbished or second hand.
The real question then is: are you truly a new person, and your life new? This is essential because Jesus said that, "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. Therefore by their fruits you will know them" (Matt. 5: 16-17, 20). We are born anew to live new lives and bear good fruits.
However, that was not the case with the Israelites. Though they left Egypt physically, but Egypt remained in them through their ways of life, mindset, character, attitudes and desires. They refused to let go the Egyptian lifestyle and tastebud. For this, many died in the wilderness (read Numbers Chapter 11).
To truly live the new life, the old must give way completely so the world can see Christ in you. This can only happen when you are the light as God your Father is. "God is light; in him there is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). Apostle Paul said we should examine ourselves (2 Corin 13: 5) to discover if any Egyptian lifestyle, values, mindset, and old ways of life have crept back into our lives and darkened our light. To remain new always, we need a purging (2 Tim. 2: 19-21).
Prayers: Thank you Lord for giving me a new life and making me a new creation. Search me O God, if there are Egyptian and old ways of life in me, and purge me through and through in Jesus name.
