Proverbs 24:6 (NLT) - “So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.”
In warfare, parties involved seek to gain a good edge against one another by gathering good intelligence about their rivals. Some send out skilful spies who can blend in to study or monitor their rivals without such rival knowing. Joshua sent out spies to Jericho and when this became known to the King of Jericho, he sent men to go find the spies (Joshua 1:2-7). Intelligence or knowledge of the weaknesses and even the strengths of your opponent gives you an edge in a battle.
Satan, the accuser and enemy of man also thrives on gathering knowledge on people. In Job 2:2 (NLT) his response to God’s question showed this; “Where have you come from?” the LORD asked Satan. Satan answered the LORD, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.” Knowing the devil’s mission is to steal, kill and destroy, as a child of God, you are to give him no place. To be ignorant of his devices or schemes however is to give him room. Paul says; “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
So you must arm yourself with the knowledge of who you are, whose you are and what you have as revealed by the Spirit through the scriptures. Standing in this revelation knowledge is what helps you to perpetually stand. Consider Jesus. Isn’t it interesting that the first temptation we read after having received the testimony from the Father that “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17) was the devil saying; “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” (Matthew 4:4).
This temptation was a direct challenge to what God has said. Jesus showed us an example of standing fast in the Father’s word concerning you when He responded to this temptation by saying “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4). If you do not give yourself to knowing who you are in Him and what you have, the enemy will seek to take advantage of you. For instance, he will attempt to deceive you that God does not love you at times when you do not feel God’s presence. You are to stand on the Word that “God so loved you that He gave Jesus to die for you”. Knowledge is what will help you prevail. Always go for, and stand strong on the knowledge from His Word. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You because of what you have made me and for what You have given in Christ Jesus. I refuse to allow the enemy to take advantage of me even as I stand in the truth of what You have spoken to me concerning my life, future, family and destiny. I win always in Jesus’ Name. Amen
