Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT) - “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning”.
Getting things wrong may cause feelings of guilt, shame, regret, fear, unworthiness and even anger. These feelings may be stirred up within one’s mind and emotions whether the event had only just happened about 10 minutes ago or longer like 10 months, or even 10 years ago. It is however not wise to live your life based on those feelings of condemnation. That’s not how God wants you to live.
The Bible tells us clearly in Romans 8:1 that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. As a child of God, the price for your sins was already paid by Jesus. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed” Isaiah 53:5. Jesus was wounded so you wouldn’t have to carry the burden and pain of either an emotional or even physical wound anymore.
Being conscious of the price Jesus paid for you with his death to take away your sin, guilt and shame is indeed the first step to being free of condemnation. Receive forgiveness for every sin that is leading you to condemn yourself by trusting Jesus’ sacrifice as you come to the throne of grace and obtain forgiveness and mercy for every error (Hebrews 4:16). This leads to repentance as opposed to blaming others for the error or mistakes you made.
Isaiah 43:25 says; “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.” Christ’s sacrifice is so great that God forgives and forgets your error. So, move on into the newness God has for you. At times, there might be a need to refer to the incident to draw on lessons learnt but do not allow yourself to wallow in the pit of guilt and condemnation. Be conscious that you have been forgiven. God’s mercies are new every morning so take advantage of today’s “fresh batch” of God’s mercies and live condemnation-free.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for breaking the yoke of condemnation over my neck. I receive Your forgiveness for every error and I break free from guilt and shame because I am forgiven by the sacrifice of Christ. Thank You Father for there is no condemnation for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
