Look to The Lord

Monday July 31, 2023

Psalms 34:5 (NLT) - “Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.”

Where your “face” is turned to is where you are expecting your help to come from. This scripture“I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help?” (Psalm 121:1) sheds more light on the concept of what where your face is turned to means. Your “face” is the positioning of your attention. In other words, where your attention lies is where you are really expecting your help to be from.

Some have their “faces” turned to their bank accounts and consequently they are limited with what God can do with their lives. Others look to man; paying attention to what other men or people can do for them. Of course, God can help you through people but it is not to then begin to think people are your original or ultimate source. Even if God helps you through a man, God is still your ultimate source. In fact the help of man, not backed by God is useless! Psalm 60:11 declares; “Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless.”

So, turn your face to the Lord by focusing on His Word. “…For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6. Let your confession always be that the Lord is Your helper! Keep your attention or face fixed on what He has told you and you will see His help in marvellous ways. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Dear Father, You are my Helper. My face is turned to you as I keep attention on Your Word alone. I receive grace not to be distracted from Your Word but to keep beholding what You have said to me. I enjoy Your help in all my ways, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
