Mark 5:36 - “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”
Our anchor scripture is an excerpt of the story of what happened as Jesus was on the way to the house of Jairus - one of the rulers of the synagogue. Jairus had come to Jesus to ask him to come and heal his little daughter who was sick and at the point of death. Jesus decided to go.
As they went on the journey, a woman with the issue of blood for 12 years got her miracle from Jesus (Mark 5:25-34); and while Jesus was still speaking to the woman, some news came for Jairus. The scriptures say; “While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” Mark 5:35.
What happened next is very instructive. Mark 5:36 says; “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” This tells you how faith and fear works - through what you hear. It is amazing that if the bad news Jairus heard had been allowed to take root, his daughter would not have lived. And this potential fear was coming only with one statement.
Beloved, Jesus is with you regarding that situation and all He wants is for you to only believe. It does not matter what the circumstances are, what the doctor has said, what the economy is saying, “Do not be afraid, only believe”. Believe what God has said in His Word to you and about the situation and don’t pay attention to distractions. This is what guarantees that the outcome will be in your favour.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You for Your promise of abundant life to me is fulfilled in Christ. I refuse to allow fear, anxieties and worries. I choose to only believe Your Word and I see all that you have said to me coming to pass as You said it because You never lie. Thank you Father, in Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
