Exodus 9:1 - "Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and tell him, ‘Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me."
God delights in our freedom. You can't progress, achieve or fulfil purpose and destiny in bondage. No matter how glorious God's plans are concerning you, such can't be fulfilled or experienced in captivity. Joseph had a dream to become a prime minister, but it remained a dream until he arrived in the palace - the place of fulfilment. "How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?" (read Psalm 137:1-4).
God's plan was to bring Israel to Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey. It was a covenant promise to their forefathers, but Pharaoh refused to let them go. Anything or anyone that stops you from going forward in God's agenda for your life is a Pharaoh. The goal is to hold you captive and stop you from going into your land of promise, blessing, glory, and destiny. But now God commands, it is time to "Go forward." (Read Exo.14:15).
Despite several plagues God sent against Pharaoh, he refused to let Israel go until God brought the final judgement upon him and his people. God warned him in advance, but he refused. "So I say to you, let My son go that he may serve Me. But if you refuse to let him go, indeed I will kill your son, your firstborn.” (Exo 4: 23). It's time to serve the 'death warning' to that Pharaoh.
The big question, though, is, "Are you tired of living in captivity?" You can't be comfortable and feeling Ok in sin, rebellion, poverty, sickness, captivity, etc, and expect God to rise against your Pharaoh. Until Israel groaned, sighed, and cried out for help, nothing changed (Exo 2: 23-25). If you can pray, God is ready to judge that Pharaoh and deliver you in line with Isaiah 49: 24-26.
Prayer: Father, I am tired of dwelling in captivity and slavery to this Pharaoh. Please arise and fight for me and set me free so that I can serve you. Cause my enemy to eat their own flesh and drink their own blood, as with sweet wine, in Jesus' name.
