I Thessalonians 5:17 - "pray without ceasing"
Prayer is too paramount to be relegated to a sporadic or irregular occurrence. All through scriptures, the significance of consistent or persistent prayers is there for all to see. For instance, Luke 18:1 (KJV) says, "men ought always to pray, and not to faint." In addition, Prophet Samuel considered it a sin to be inconsistent in prayer. He says in I Samuel 12:23, "Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way."
Beloved, as Samuel alluded to, praying consistently is "the good and the right way" to pray. The early Apostles observed Jesus and understood the power of a consistent prayer life, and they taught this to the early church. When Peter was arrested by Herod, and put in prison to be executed like James was, the Bible says "..but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church" (Acts 12:5). The early Christians didn't pray once or sporadically concerning the release of Peter, they prayed ceaselessly and tirelessly. They didn't stop until they literally saw Peter come out of prison (Acts 12:16).
In our anchor scripture, we see Apostle Paul instructing the Church in Thessalonica to pray endlessly, and this was a model he practiced. Paul assured Timothy that he was praying ceaselessly for him when he said, "...as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day" (2 Timothy 1:3). Beloved, the manner of Peter's release in Acts 12:7-10 is testament to the supernatural results that a consistent prayer lifestyle can produce. Beyond this, praying continuously is an avenue for us to stay connected to God and His will for our lives.
Prayer: Father, I repent of my laziness and lukewarmness in the place of prayer. I receive grace to be consistent and persistent in prayer. I know that as I do, I will have supernatural testimonies to your glory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
