Run With His Timing

Word Feast: Daily Menu from KCIC

Wednesday May 17, 2023

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 - “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

On this earth, time is an important factor when it comes to achievements, successes and fulfilment. To ignore the importance of time is to run either impatiently - too fast or to be lazy - too slow. Either way, without a proper appreciation of time, you will not maximise your seasons and life.

Jesus had a great understanding of his timing. John 7:2-7says; “But soon it was time for the Jewish Festival of Shelters, and Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave here and go to Judea, where your followers can see your miracles! You can’t become famous if you hide like this! If you can do such wonderful things, show yourself to the world!” For even his brothers didn’t believe in him. Jesus replied, “Now is not the right time for me to go, but you can go anytime. The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil.”

Notice that Jesus knew it was not the right time for Him to go like His brothers because of His unique destiny. The world hated him because He testified against them but not the same for His brothers; so, He had to take special care of when and how he does what He should do. Your destiny is unique and because of this, your timing is unique as well. That others have gone ahead on certain ventures does not mean you should run like them or go at their own pace. The “School” of life is not Elementary or High School where you are trying to outdo your classmates in a science project.

Your own life should be about what God wants you to do according to His own timing for you. So, stop the comparison with others. Being classmates does not mean you are “Lifemates”. Follow God’s plan for your life and be diligent in understanding His timing for you. This will save you from being impatient or lagging behind. Be sensitive to the Spirit regarding your timing being confident that He “…will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Psalm 32:8

Prayer: Dear Father, I am grateful for Your unique plan for my life. I refuse to compare my own race and timing with others. And I receive sensitivity of heart to understand my time and seasons so I will not run impatiently or lag behind your plans for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
