Luke 4: 13 - And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
The NLT bible presents the anchor scripture as; "When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came". Note that the devil left him 'until the next opportunity came', after he had tempted him in every possible way. If Jesus, our Master and King, went through 'every possible way' temptations, you cannot escape experiencing the same. The only task Satan has left against you is to throw all forms of temptations against you; especially because he knows he cannot stop you from following Jesus. So, after one temptation or attack, you need to stand firm, prepared for the next. That's why Apostle Paul said; "Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand"
(Eph.6:13).
As a true saint of God, you cannot have a plan B apart from giving your totality to follow Christ; or else, you'll become an easy prey for the adversary. It is best to say like Paul, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 8:38-39). When you’re fully persuaded in your commitment to follow and live for Jesus, it will become difficult for the devil to make a headway with his plans against you.
Remember that you became Satan's enemy and key target the day you gave your heart and life to Jesus Christ, and you were 'rescued from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into the Kingdom of his dear Son' (Col. 1:13). Even though you're saved and now in God's kingdom, the devil hasn't given up on you. It would be foolhardy to think otherwise because that's exactly what and how Satan wants you to think; so you can be careless and vulnerable. But we are not ignorant of his tricks and devices so he doesn't take advantage of us (2 Cor. 2:11). So, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet.5:8).
Prayers: Father, I ask for grace and strength to stand firm against every temptation of the enemy as I triumph always in Christ Jesus. I receive grace to be sensitive and to not be ignorant of Satan's tricks against me. I resist him steadfastly in Jesus name.
