Luke 10: 40 - 42 - But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Life can be very interesting or boring, simple or complicated. It can be full of fun and splendour, or tedious and tiredsome. Simply put, life is what you make it to be. That is because as far as God is concerned, he has given you 'life, and life in abundance' (John 10: 10). It is up to you to become the true architect and designer of what your life should be. It's just like when Moses told the children of Israel, "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!" (Deut. 30:19).
To the workaholic and restless Christian, sitting before the Lord, or to just rest and chill and do nothing could look like a sheer waste of time. But it is such moments that revives your life and gives you clarity and focus. Like Martha, we can be too busy with 'all these details' and fail to discover the 'one thing' that matters most to our life. That one thing is what God ordained for you in destiny; that is, your life purpose as it is written in the volume of the book. It is the plans He has for you (Heb. 10:7; Jer. 29:20) that really matters. To avoid being busy here and there and yet doing nothing; you must discover the 'one thing' for your life.
Consider what Jesus said about Mary. Whereas Martha was busy with details which heaven did not recognise; Mary was sat at the Master's feet to discover his plans, thoughts, will and purpose for her. And Jesus said, "There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10: 42). Just as Mary did; it is time to leave all the details and sit at the Lord's feet to discover the 'one thing' for your life.
Prayers: Thank you Lord for your plans for me which are good and glorious. I receive grace to leave all distractions and sit at your feet to discover the only one thing worth being concerned about. Please show me and empower me to fulfil it for your glory in Jesus name.
