Winning in Prayer by Seeing Rightly

2 Kings 6:15 - “And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

Elisha and his servant were surrounded by the army of the king of Syria that had been sent to arrest him. While the servant was afraid, Elisha wasn't and prayed; “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:17.

Elisha wasn't afraid because he had a different perspective about the situation. He knew he had the protection of the armies of God! This perspective helped him in prayer in dealing with this army (2 Kings 6:18-19). Perhaps, you are fearful, and may be praying wrong about a situation because you are seeing wrong. It may be that you do not have God’s perspective on the matter.

Change the image on your inside with God’s own perspective. Seek to know what God says. This is one reason meditation in God’s Word is non-negotiable. Think about what God has said to you to the point where it takes over your imagination and your words. The Holy Spirit is the One given to us to guide us into all truth, and He will guide you into the truth of that situation; your marriage, career, finances, etc.

As you open your heart to look into scriptures and as you pray, ask and trust God to open your eyes to see what you should see. A key to winning is having the right perspective - knowing what God knows and then enforcing this in the place of prayer. Let His thoughts be your pursuit and focus. Praise God!

Prayer: Dear Father, I ask that the eyes of my understanding be opened always to have Your own perspective concerning my life, and my situations so I can pray and respond rightly as You want me to, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
