1 Corinthians 6:20 (NLT) - “for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”
The value of an item is not in the size, shape or colour of it. That a pebble or stone is bigger than some diamond does not mean that the pebble is more valuable. It is not about the size; it is about the value and one factor that signals what the value of an item is, is the price paid for that item. Price can be a strong signal of value and our anchor scripture teaches that God bought you with a high price. What is this price?
1 Peter 1:18-19 (NLT) says “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.” This is so amazing. Your price is the precious blood of Christ; the blood of the best that God has to offer. This should let you know that you are very valuable to God.
Therefore do not let societal norms, your race, your gender, colour, your not having some material possessions like a house or car define your value. Let nothing make you feel that you are worthless because you are worth the precious blood of the lamb of Christ. This knowledge should set you free from the bondage of low self-esteem and a mindset that you are not good enough. As Jesus described in Matthew 13:44, you are that “treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
And because you are valuable to God, there is value in you. Don’t indulge any longer in sinful pleasures or habits that degrade you. Refuse the condemnation of the devil that comes from a reminder of your past mistakes or errors. Break free from such abuse of your mind and body by choosing to walk in the liberty that God has brought you into. See yourself right as one who is valuable to God and refuse any violations of your body or mind. God bought you with a price so you can freely honour and glorify Him. You have value in the sight of God and you are very valuable to Him. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You for the price You paid for me and for making me precious and valuable to You. I choose to not look down or abuse myself but to live giving You glory with my body and my whole being, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
